How to take it?
Usually 400 mg twice a day is prescribed for an adult, but always take the drug on doctor’s recommendation . This medicine should be taken on empty stomach, one or two hours before any meal. Do not break the tablet, crush or chew it. Swallow the tablet as whole. Keep checking your blood pressure at regular intervals while on the drug dose.
When to take?
The tablet is usually taken two times a day. Take the exact dose, do not increase or decrease the dose without any recommendation from the doctor. Take the tablet at the same time each day, doing this will help you avoid any misdose. Taking the tablet each day should become your habit until the time prescribed by your doctor.
For how long should it be taken?
Take the drug for the time duration prescribed by your doctor. Discontinuing the drug before the complete dose may decrease the benefits of the drug. Only those patients who have experienced the benefits of other drugs of lung cancer treatment to live longer are advised Sorafenib by a professionally experienced doctor.
What if you take too much (overdose)?
You may require urgent medical help in case you take an overdose of the drug. In such a case visit the nearest healthcare center or call your doctor immediately.
What if you miss the dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but if its already the time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and take the next dose on the correct time.
- Inform the doctor if you are suffering from high blood pressure, bleeding problems, chest pain, heart problems (prolongation of QT interval), kidney problems other than kidney cancer, or liver disease; if you are going to have a surgery or have been recently operated upon.
- Seek immediate medical attention if you experience chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting, sweating or shortness of breath, blood in your urine or stools, abnormal vaginal bleeding, severe stomach pain, coughing up blood, or any bleeding that will not stop while receiving treatment with Sorafenib.
- Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, sorafenib may decrease fertility in men and women.
- You may need frequent monitoring of fluid balance and electrolytes if you are at risk of renal dysfunction; monitoring of blood calcium levels and thyroid hormones if you are suffering from thyroid cancer.
