For taking any pharmaceutical medicine, certain precautions are required to be made. These precautions are mostly advised by the family doctors who suggested the medication to suffer. Like other pharmaceutical drugs, precautions should be taken when you opt for consuming this medication.
General Instructions
Take physician’s advice before taking any other medicine or herbal products while on the adaferin gel.
If you are using other tablets for pimples like benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin or clindamycin, then they may be used in the morning, and this medication may be applied at night time.
If you have an allergy to skin reaction, please stop using this gel immediately.
If you have applied this gel by mistake into the eyes, mouth, nostrils or mucous membrane, wash immediately with warm water.
General warnings
Specific cutaneous signs and symptoms of treatment such as erythema, scaling, dryness, and stinging/burning were reported during use of generic adaferin gel 0.1%. These side effects were most likely to happen all through the first four weeks of therapy, were frequently mild to moderate in intensity, and regularly lessened with the continued use of the medicine.
Reactions categorized by symptoms such as pruritus, face edema, eyelid edema, and lip swelling, needful medical therapy have been observed during postmarketing use of this gel.
When not to use?
Do not apply gel on cuts, abrasion or eczematous skin.
Do not discontinue gel without doctor’s advice.
Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
During pregnancy, this gel may be unsafe to use.
Animal studies have shown side effects on the fetus. Though, there are limited human studies. The benefits, when used in pregnant women, may be acceptable despite the risk. Please counsel your physician/pharmacist.
Lactation
This is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the medicine doesn’t represent a significant risk to the tiny baby.
The tiny baby's skin should not come into direct contact with the treated area of the peel. Water-miscible cream (gel) is preferred as ointments may expose the baby to harmful effects of this gel via licking.
