How it works
Silymarin is an active principle obtained from milk thistle seed (Silybum marianum) . It might protect liver cells from toxic chemicals and drugs. It also seems to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Milk thistle plant extract might enhance the effects of estrogen.
Dosage and Administration
Silybon (Silymarin) comes in tablet form, and there are 70mg and 140mg strength versions available. See your physician for detailed advice on the suitability of this supplement for you and the correct daily dosage. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Patients must only take the correct amount of tablets as decided upon by the physician treating them. The recommended daily dosage for treating liver problems or any other conditions must not be exceeded.
