General Instructions
Take this medicine as prescribed by the specialist or physician. Do not take this tablet in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. The therapy should be started at lower doses, and the dose should be gradually increased based on the response. Don’t stop taking this medicine without informing your doctor.
When not to use?
Allergy
This drug is not commended for use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to atenolol or any other tablets belonging to the class of Beta-Blockers.
Cardiogenic shock
This medication is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of Cardiogenic shock.
Heart block greater than first degree
Aten tablet is not recommended for utilize in patients with a heart block greater than first degree.
Sinus Bradycardia
This medicine is not advocated for use in patients with Sinus bradycardia since it may worsen the patient's condition.
Uncompensated cardiac failure
This drug is not suggested for use in patients with Uncompensated cardiac failure.
Severe pulmonary edema
This tablet is not suggested for use in sick persons with acute pulmonary edema.
General warnings
Cardiac Failure
This medication can cause heart failure and reduced blood flow in patients having heart disease. Close observing of heart function is suggested for such sick persons. Appropriate dose replacement or adjustments with a suitable alternative may be needed based on the clinical condition.
Major surgery
Aten tablet should be used with caution in patients who are scheduled to undergo a significant operation. An anesthetic agent with little harmful inotropic activity should be carefully chosen to minimize the effect on the heart.
Lung Diseases
This medicine should be utilized with caution in sick persons with lung diseases who do not respond to another antihypertensive tablet. Start with the low dose and increase the dose based on the medical condition. Replacement with a satisfactory alternative may be needed in some cases.
Hyperlipidemia
This drug should be utilized with caution in sick persons with hyperlipidemia since it may alter the serum lipid profiles. Suitable dose replacement or adjustments with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor's supervision.
Sports
Athletes are suggested not to indulge in certain sports while using this medication. Archery, shooting, racing and other high-risk sports should be avoided. Sportspersons should refer to the list of tablets published by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which are not to be taken while participating in particular sports actions.
Hyperthyroidism
This medicine should be administered with caution in sick persons with increased thyroid levels. Abrupt withdrawal of this drug may lead to a life-threatening condition called thyroid-storm. Frequent monitoring of thyroid hormone levels is suggested for such patients. Appropriate dose replacement or adjustments with a suitable alternative may be needed based on the medical condition.
